Stripping the Billionaire Heirs of Damon Book 4 eBook Noelle Adams
I've read most of this author's books, but this one was a complete let down. It felt rushed to me and not a good ending to the series. I don't understand why the main character has to use the F word every time he has sex. It's almost childish. There were several misused and misspelled words throughout the book that took away from the flow. It had potential to be a good story and a nice fast read. I just wish there was more character development like her previous books had. I will buy more from the author for now and am just hoping that was a one time deal of not very good writing.Tags : Amazon.com: Stripping the Billionaire (Heirs of Damon Book 4) eBook: Noelle Adams: Kindle Store, ebook,Noelle Adams,Stripping the Billionaire (Heirs of Damon Book 4),Fiction Contemporary Women,Fiction Romance Contemporary
Stripping the Billionaire Heirs of Damon Book 4 eBook Noelle Adams Reviews
Looks like Joelle Adams wrapped up the last of the Damon male cousins with a winner! Benjamin Damon hides himself in the bitterness of his broken life with a changed name, location, and an unruly beard. But he slowly learns that he can’t move forward in a relationship until he resolves the feelings he has towards his uncle.
Mandy or better known as Cupcake, must connect with those around her. With one neighbor it is babysitting, with another it is tea once a week, but she struggles to bond with the grumpy man across the hall. If it wasn’t for Mandy’s persistence with Ben to help him remodel his mother’s house she would never have noticed the attachment they had built no matter how much he grumbled.
My favorite part in the book would have to be when Ben and his uncle met after years of Ben running from all his family. His cousin, Harrison, gave great advice on forgiveness.
This review is of “Stripping the Billionaire”, book 4 in the “Heirs of Damon” series by Noelle Adams.
The Story In Chapter 1, we meet the heroine of the book, Amanda Milton, hereafter known as Mandy, 24, an interior designer. Mandy is visiting the apartment of one of her neighbors, the hero of the book, a man she knows as Ben Cain, but whose name in reality is Benjamin Damon, of the series titular family. Ben, an architect, is estranged from his family and is in Los Angeles trying to further distance himself from the Damon name, money, and everything it stands for, primarily because he and his uncle, Cyrus, don’t get along. Mandy is attracted to Ben, but she wants marriage and a family, and Ben says he wants neither of those things. Despite Ben’s desire not to be involved with her, he and Mandy are going to be spending a lot of time together as they will be working on his mother, Lucy’s, home in Savannah, Georgia.
At first, there is tension between Ben and Mandy in Georgia, because Ben is concerned someone will tell Mandy that he’s been lying to her about his identity and his past, but the attraction between them overpowers them and they make love. Later, Mandy discovers Ben’s last name, and they fight. Ben eventually confesses the truth to Mandy and they become an item. For a while.
That fact changes when Ben, Mandy and Lucy attend a cotillion. Ben starts to remember again what being a Damon means, shuts down and breaks up with Mandy, hurting himself, her, and Lucy. Mandy leaves Savannah and returns to California. After getting a mild dressing down from Lucy, Ben decides to take the steps necessary to putting his life back on the right track with his family.
This reconciliation begins in Greece at his cousin Andrew’s wedding. Here, Ben begins the arduous task of making peace with his family, and more importantly, with himself. Nothing is fixed completely, but Ben and his family-especially Cyrus-are doing the work to be a loving family. Ben later returns to California and resumes his friendship with Mandy, but both realize that this is not enough for them, they realize they were meant for each other and they have their Happily Ever After.
Unlike the first book I read by Ms. Adams, “Bittersweet”, which focused exclusively on the heroine, “Stripping the Billionaire” focuses on both the heroine and the hero, making for a much more enjoyable, fuller book. Mandy is a sweet, loving woman. Ben is a bit of a jerk and a bastard, at the beginning, but once his reasons are revealed, he becomes a more sympathetic figure and a more likeable character.
Despite the provocative title, the book is really not all that sexual. The term “stripping” refers less to the physical act, but more to the mental and to walls coming down.
Sex A few scenes. Reasonably hot, but certainly not erotica.
Violence None.
There is a good amount of profanity from Ben.
Bottom Line A good, solid, contemporary romance. Not the greatest book I’ve ever read, but a good one nonetheless.
Ben and Mandy are neighbors and became fast, best friends. Ben is hiding his true self - and his family, their history, and their money - from the world. He works independently and supports himself without their help.
When Mandy invites herself to help Ben redecorate Ben's mother's home as a boost to her interior design portfolio, Ben is afraid Mandy might learn his secrets. When an attraction develops between them, sparks fly but the two dance around a relationship and friendship, with misunderstandings and Ben's secrets coming between them.y
The rest of the story encompasses their unfortunate situation and how they come together, happy and healing Ben's estranged family relationships as well.
This is a stand alone story and I plan to read others in the series, hoping they are as enjoyable as this one!
Stripping the Billionaire is the first book that I have read in the Heirs of Damon series and here's what I thought of this fourth installment.
*The story has good emotional expression from each of the characters.
*A very likeable leading lady - Mandy. She has lost her family in a tragic accident. Is a smart sweet girl who seems very put together in spite of the loss that she has suffered.
*An irritating leading male - Ben. He seems to be constantly feeling sorry for himself, and is grumpy and grubby. Not a very swoon-worthy character that I've come to expect in this genre.
*It has a lack-luster plot which was very predictable.
*It is however, a quick read which is good, but unfortunately there were a few spelling errors which became slightly annoying.
*There isn't a lot of romance between Mandy and Ben, but their interaction was very sweet.
Overall a nice quick read and I did like it. However, I expected much more from this book and unfortunately, it didn't deliver.
3 stars!
